Volunteer with Brilliant Detroit

Are you ready to help a student become a lifelong reader and learner? Reading Partners, in partnership with Brilliant Detroit, is seeking online volunteer tutors to provide high-quality virtual learning opportunities to young students in Detroit. 

You can make a measurable impact from anywhere in the US by giving just one hour per week of virtual literacy support to help a student advance their skills. No experience is required, as we provide volunteers with a structured curriculum, training, and ongoing support to help you and your student succeed.

Volunteer requirements

  • Age: You must be 14 or older.
  • Time commitment: Commit to a little over one hour per week (tutoring generally takes place from 5 pm-7 pm ET, Mon-Thurs).
  • Technology: You must have access to a laptop or desktop computer with reliable wifi.
  • Training: Complete the required tutor orientation.
  • Screening: Volunteers 18 years or older must pass a background check.
