Volunteer in Newark
Are you ready to help a student become a lifelong reader and learner? Reading Partners, in partnership with GreenLight Fund Greater Newark, is seeking in-person and online volunteers in New Jersey to provide literacy tutoring for local kids. Just one hour per week will help a student advance their skills.
In-person and online
Tutoring takes place in-person and online at several locations in Newark.
1 hour per week
Volunteers commit to a little over an hour per week. We welcome more.
Flexible times
Flexible weekly tutoring times are available. Choose the time that works best for you!
No experience required
We provide a highly effective, easy-to-use curriculum, training, and ongoing support.
Volunteer requirements
- Age: You must be 14 years or older.
- Time & location: Commit to a little over one hour per week for in-person tutoring. Tutoring generally takes place 8 am-3 pm, Mon-Thurs with some limited availability after 3 pm. Tutors must reside in New Jersey.
- Training: Complete required tutor orientation.
- Technology: Comfortable operating a computer during tutoring sessions.
- Screening: Pass a background check and any additional required screening.
