Gotta love those lightbulb moments

April 25, 2016

by Gotta love those lightbulb moments

By: Adrienne Bynum, volunteer reading partner in Charlotte, NC
Pearson employee, in partnership with #ProjectLiteracy

I was seeking a chance to give back to my community and was invited to be involved with Reading Partners. At its early conception in a local school district close to home, I was excited to walk into a room and await my second grader. Ready to read, ready to write, ready to learn new vocabulary, she was such a shining star. Reading Partners was her best part of the day. And even better, I was able to connect with her and create many “lightbulb moments”. There is nothing like tutoring a child and hearing him/her say, “Oh!! I get it!” Reading Partners offers that and so much more to these children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to sit one-on-one with an adult to engage in their learning process.
