Reading Partners and Picture Book Summit team up to encourage new authors, and readers

If you’re a teacher, librarian, parent, or grandparent, we’re betting you have a story to tell. You work with kids every day. You know what they like to read — and what’s missing from the shelves. Chances are, you have a story you want share with students across the country… maybe even across the globe! We’re also willing to bet you’re a champion of literacy. Well, here’s a chance to dive into the world of picture book writing while supporting literacy education at the same time.

Picture Book Summit is an online conference created by a group of picture book authors, editors, and educators who are bringing valuable resources to writers and illustrators without the hassle and expense of travel. This live, online workshop equips aspiring picture book authors with the tools they need to realize their ideas and, hopefully, find a publisher for their projects.

Each year, the event organizers donate a portion of the proceeds to charity, and Reading Partners is honored to have been chosen as their beneficiary for 2016. Picture Book Summit’s generous donation will help Reading Partners support 11,000 readers in the upcoming school year.
