On May 6, nonprofits across the country were blown away by the outpour of support shown on “Giving Day.” Over 300,000 people turned out to give a total of $53,354,526.74 for thousands of nonprofit organizations. At Reading Partners, we were blown away by the generosity of our supporters who gave enough to:

Support 10 students through one year of one-on-one tutoring.

Supply 35 reading centers with writing materials.

Bring 500 children’s books to fill the shelves of school reading centers.

In Charleston, SC alone, supporters gave over $40K to support Reading Partners program in local elementary schools!

This special event showed the power of giving in the modern age. In a single day, on one online platform individuals chose to help change the lives of students and so much more. With the click of a button, from any location, anyone could give. Imagine if, on this day, everyone in the United States took a few minutes to pledge just one dollar. What a huge impact that would make.

Liz & ShaiiavaBut, as we are reminded day-after-day at Reading Partners, giving a monetary contribution isn’t the only way to give. Giving time and one-on-one attention to students is the driving force of Reading Partners’ program. Learn how Liz, in Charleston, is giving back in this modern age…read more.
