4 ways to celebrate Reading Partners North Texas’ fourth birthday
January 22, 2016
Refer a Friend: Here at Reading Partners North Texas our doors are always open to welcome new tutors into our centers! A great way to celebrate with us is to refer a friend or family member to be a tutor. The one-on-one model that we implement through our program relies heavily on volunteer support, and you are our best advocates! You can find materials HERE to reach out to anyone you think would be interesting in tutoring with us!
Hold a book or summer reading packet drive: Throughout the year, our reading centers rely on community donations to extend our students’ love of reading beyond the center walls. These donations of books fill our Take Reading Home libraries for students to continually pick out a “just right book” at the end of each session. Our summer reading packets are tool kits that each of our students receive at the end of the school year to work on throughout the summer and mitigate summer learning loss. Organize a group of coworkers, your small group, friends, or family to collect supplies to equip each of our packets and libraries!
Host a Team Tutor Day: Join a group of your colleagues for a great team building experience in one of our school partners! At our three-hour, one-day event your group will learn more about our model, be trained as a successful tutor, and have the opportunity to work with our young readers for make-up sessions. These events are a great way to plug into the mission of Reading Partners while also helping our students to catch up!
Follow us on social media: Follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook and keep up to date with everything Reading Partners North Texas! Check out our AmeriCorps members’ Mission Monday posts, stay up to date with our new Kids Read advocacy campaign, connect with other stakeholders, and more!
