Cool School: Frierson Elementary

June 7, 2018

Watch the video coverage on Count on 2 Charleston.

Big changes are underway at Edith L Frierson Elementary School. We’re on Wadmalw Island for our Cool School of the week, the last Cool School for the 2017-2018 school year.

Frierson Elementary is the only school on Wadmalaw Island.  The child development through fifth grade school has 121 students.

This upcoming school year, Frierson will become District 9’s first and only public Montessori school.

The school also has a beautiful garden and grounds, perfect for the gardening curriculum that is part the Montessori program.

The school takes pride in its community support.   The reading partners program brings volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, retired lawyers, doctors, educators, nurses, and community members who volunteer at the school three days a week to help students improve reading skills.

We’ll have more on the cool programs at Frierson coming up tonight on News 2 at 5.
