Get involved with Reading Partners Charleston: Summer 2015

June 9, 2015

Reading Partners mobilizes the community to give back to Charleston youth by connecting one caring adult with one struggling young reader. We recruit and train community volunteers to work directly with elementary students whose reading skills have fallen below grade level. Beyond providing one-on-one tutoring, our volunteers build powerful relationships with their students and bridge the gap between community and schools.

IMG_0685The results are inspiring. Recently recognized by the New York Times as an “untapped force in the fight
for literacy, Reading Partners is a program that works. In 2014, 71 percent of our target students doubled
their rate of learning.

In the next school year we will expand our program to serve many more students who need our help. In order to ensure all of our +600 students get the reading support they deserve, we’ll need your help. Find out how you can get involved.
