LOCAL Closer Look: Reading Partners NYC

Peter Kaye discusses the importance of early childhood literacy with Primo Lasana of Reading Partners NYC. Lasana speaks to the fact that four out of 5 NYC students are not reading at grade level by the 4th grade. He shares how this not only is difficult for the students in the present but also builds upon itself and makes it more difficult for them as they advance to the higher grades. Lasana proudly talks about the collaboration that Reading Partners has with 19 schools throughout the Big Apple and the impact that they are having. He also shares the need for volunteer tutors.
