Honoring the life and legacy of Stuart Stein: Tutor, former board chair, and literacy champion

stuart steinWe are deeply saddened by the passing of Stuart Stein, a beloved literacy champion whose dedication to Reading Partners DC left an incredible and positive impact on our community. Stuart was not just a former board member; he was a passionate tutor, a fervent literacy advocate, and a true champion for Reading Partners’ mission and communities.

Stuart’s love for Reading Partners was evident in every action he took, inspiring those around him to get involved and ensure students across DC have access to the love and joy of reading. His commitment to Reading Partners was profound, often shown in his unwavering effort to encourage tutors and supporters from his network, family, and Hogan Lovells to get involved with our mission, strengthening our partnerships and expanding our impact.

Today, we honor Stuart’s legacy—a legacy of service, of love, and of lasting contributions to lives of those he tutored, inspired, and worked with. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Joy, along with the entire Stein family during this difficult time.
