Tutor Spotlight: Grammie Annie

March 12, 2019

We extend an immense amount of gratitude to all of the amazing tutors that empower and mentor our students every single week in our reading centers.

We want to recognize one tutor in particular, known to everyone at Franklin Elementary as “Grammie Annie.”  She has looked to her own educators as mentors because they not only helped her improve her professional skills throughout the years, but also took the initiative to help her build confidence and become the outstanding mentor she is today! She is motivated to help students because she sees it as an opportunity to communicate with a different generation and bridge the generation gap. She knows that students need someone they can look to as a role model.

I feel like more of a matriarchal figure than a teacher.  I believe it helps students to know that I am also a Foster Grandparent, and that they can feel more comfortable around me. I want the students to have more fun when learning and be more open.

Thank you for your service as a Reading Partners tutor, Grammie Annie. We are fortunate to have you on our team!
