Halley Thompson

Bringing a recent background in teaching middle school English/language arts to her work at Reading Partners, Halley understands firsthand the power and importance of the work Reading Partners does in preparing young readers for academic success. Originally from North Carolina, where she worked in schools as a site coordinator with a nonprofit, Halley began her classroom teaching career in Baltimore City, where she worked in schools for five years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from UNC Asheville, a secondary English teaching certification from UNC Asheville, and a Master of Public Administration from UNC Chapel Hill. Halley is a two-term AmeriCorps alum, having served as a VISTA with an education nonprofit and in a State/National conservation program. Her work at Reading Partners is a perfect match for her passion for literacy education, her enthusiasm for working with people with public service motivation, and her drive to lead organized, research-based program implementation.
