Kate Jerome

Kate is an author, educator, and award-winning program developer focused on informing, educating, and entertaining young readers. Kate began her career as a high school biology teacher before entering the world of education publishing. She joined Scott Foresman publishing company where she served a thirteen-year tenure and ultimately became president of Scott Foresman. She also served as a senior vice-president on HarperCollins Publisher’s executive board in New York. In 2001 Kate launched her own business to further her mission as an author and developer of effective learning systems. Since its inception, Kate has created a range of innovative children’s book series and online programs in collaboration with leading educational and trade publishers including National Geographic, Penguin Random House, and Arcadia Publishing Company.

In 2015 Kate joined Stanford University’s Distinguished Career Institute (DCI) fellowship program. During her yearlong residency her affiliation with Stanford’s Center on Longevity re-energized her long-time interest in intergenerational connections. As a result, Kate has recently teamed up with Arcadia Publishing as co-founder of the Arcadia Kids Division, serving as creator and program developer for two Read Together/Do Together children’s book series.

In addition to her publishing efforts, Kate is an active Emeritus board member of the South Carolina Aquarium and supports multiple literacy organizations.
