Kemba Tamar

Kemba is no stranger to literacy or the nonprofit world. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, she jumped right into the nonprofit sector and ran a tutorial program in Baltimore City Schools that had over 20 AmeriCorps members serving Southwest Baltimore and East Baltimore. For the past 15 years, Kemba was the Program Director for the Community Service Society NYC Experience Corps Program. Her passion has always been centered around student achievement and mobilizing volunteers to serve in their local communities. Over the years, she has worked with multiple school districts across New York City. She is a proud mom and in her spare time, Kemba enjoys spending time with family and traveling.
