Rachel Minnick
Rachel brings twenty years of non-profit and public policy experience to her role as the Sacramento executive director. Most recently, she served with the City of Sacramento as the district director for Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby, managing the day-to-day operations of the office and serving as a liaison between constituents and city staff to solve complex challenges. As the director of family and community engagement for the California Charter Schools Association, Rachel identified and mentored parent leaders to become advocates for their schools, helping them collaborate with policy makers through positive and productive dialogue. Her passion for Reading Partners grew out of an opportunity to tutor students at one of the reading centers when she served as the communications officer for Mayor Kevin Johnson’s literacy initiative Sacramento READS! which was launched to educate the community about the need for children to read on grade level by the end of third grade. Previous to these roles, Rachel worked on policy advocacy to increase access to affordable child care with Child Action, Inc. and was the training coordinator at the Sacramento Children’s Home and the Children’s Receiving Home. Her career has been dedicated to the well-being of children and families, rooted in the belief that every child deserves a bright future.
