Volunteer in Newark

Are you ready to help a student become a lifelong reader and learner? Reading Partners, in partnership with GreenLight Fund Greater Newark, is seeking volunteer tutors to provide high-quality virtual learning opportunities to local students. Just one hour per week of virtual literacy support will help a student advance their skills. Summer tutoring will take place in July and August 2025.

Volunteer requirements

Age: You must be 18 years or older.
Time & location: Commit to a little over one hour per week (tutoring generally takes place 8 am-3 pm, Mon-Thurs) with some limited availability after 3 pm.
Training: Complete required tutor orientation.
Technology: Online volunteers must have access to a computer and reliable wifi.
Screening: Pass a background check and any additional required screening.
